Some of you may be wondering why I am reading Wild Magic...or not. Regardless, here is the reason: my girlfriend's 12 year old sister said that she would like me to read them and consider adapting them into a screenplay. So, on the referral of a little girl, I am reading The Immortals series by Tamora Pierce. Surprisingly, the first one is pretty good. So, thank you, Mollie Greenberg for the book referral.

Oh, and I really missed Kim while we were apart. This post was partially coerced.

My boss's boss has taken the time out of his busy schedule to do what the rest of us have been talking about doing. He created a blog at http://www.wehatepeople.com so that we can post why we hate people so much. 'People' can refer to the general public in large numbers, or a specific dipshit who gets in the way. Anyway, check it frequently if you like. I post under the moniker 'Travis'...yes...my originality was peaking. If we sound bitter, it is because we are.

We're in Kentucky...Glasgow, KY to be exact. It is always nice to come home, but I am becoming aware that I hate air travel. First of all, it costs money. Second, lots of people do it at the same time, and I hate 'lots of people'. Third, there is a chance that I could be killed doing it. I know all about the statistics of air travel, but the fact is, when a plane crashes and all the passengers die, those passengers had the same chance to die that I did...and they died. It is kind of like that lottery slogan, "Somebody is going to win. It might as well be you." Exactly. And the more you fly, the higher your chances of dying are. I didn't used to be bothered by flying. My dad is a pilot and flew me around in small airplanes a lot as a child. I continue to fly regularly in an aircraft with EXPERIMENTAL written in big letters on the inside of the canopy. And I am not concerned about someone taking over the plane. I am concerned about the wings coming off. I am very uncomfortable placing my life in the hands of lots of people that I don't know. That is why I like to drive myself wherever I go. Since the airlines are bleeding to death, I figure the maintenance budget is the first thing that will get cut. Anyhow, airline travel just sucks. That is all.

The January 2003 Fantasy Film League deadline is looming ahead, so get your movie ready before the 1st to secure a spot in the league. If you have not joined up yet, the league number is 660 and the password is 'lucasrocks'. It takes very little work on your part for the chance at a year's worth of bragging rights. We currently have two seasons running already, and here are the standings so far.

1. $71,850,000 - Elliott
2. $63,450,000 - Mr. Moore

4. $44,662,500 - Jeremy
5. $44,025,000 - Travis
6. $41,775,000 - Ron
7. $28,015,000 - Chris Heffner
8. $13,575,000 - Shane

Guy in a Suit Fantasy Film League - October 2002
1. $28,350,000 - Chris Heffner
2. $25,500,000 - Kim
3. $24,450,000 - Jeremy
4. $16,575,000 - Elliott
5. $14,850,000 - Ron
6. $14,100,000 - Travis
7. $5,700,000 - Kirk-atuckt
8. $1,800,000 - Pajaro
9. $0 - Mr. Moore

Once again, the seasons run for one year from the month they start. Feel free to join up.

We went to see The Two Towers last night at the Arclight. I wasn't going to write a review for it, because it is that good, but I think I should probably put my thoughts down. I'll try to do that soon. I have to say, I am a little disappointed in the Arclight's conduct last night. Apparently, they had to do some last minute switching around of theaters and they double-booked some seats. The movie ended up starting about a half-hour late. We got a free pass for another movie, but their perfect reputation has been tarnished a bit. It is still the best theater in the world.

Well, I was on E! last night bashing the Osbournes. Thanks to Pajaro for Tivo-ing the show and hosting my brief clip. You can see it here, although it is a little dark. Here is the longer segment that I was in...to give you context. I'm not sure why I am labeled "Fan". I'm certainly not a fan of much of what E! does. This took place outside the Mann's Chinese Theater while we were waiting to meet some friends to see Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Oh, I need to acknowledge Nicky the Jew from KY, who is an old friend of mine and has been running a blog without my knowledge for a bit. Go visit Maybe You Should Drive, and sign the guestbook or something.

Kim and I went to see Star Trek: Nemesis over the weekend. Here is my review (MILD SPOILERS).

Sorry about the lack of attention here. I was going to put up a venom-filled rant about how much I hate people, but I thought it best to just let it go. Also, I've gotten into a rhythm of working on my script when I get home from work, and I'd like to keep that going. I should have the first draft finished if not by the end of this week, then definitely by the end of next week. It will need a lot of work for the 2nd draft, but I've already got too many ideas on how to fill it out.

I also still plan to implement a search feature, just as soon as we get some time to load all the pages into it.

Went to see Equilibrium today. It was good. Maybe not as good as I wanted it to be. Kim really really liked it. Here is my review (MILD SPOILERS).

I had an interesting Arclight moment today at the movie. It was an early movie and I had not eaten breakfast yet. We were eligible for a free item from the snack bar. This conversation ensued. Keep in mind, this is a concession stand at a movie theater.

ME - Do you have hotdogs?
HIM - No, but we have sausage baguettes.
ME - What?
HIM - It is like a hot dog, but a little healthier.
ME - Alright, give me one of those.
HIM - What kind do you want?
ME - I thought you said it was sausage.
HIM - It is, but you can get it in tomato garlic or chicken pesto.
ME - Are you sure this is a hotdog?
HIM - Sort of, but healthier.
ME - What is pesto? Nevermind...give me the chicken one.
HIM - Sauce?
ME - Sauce?
HIM - Watermelon, BBQ, or spicy mustard.
ME - BBQ, I guess.
HIM - It is watermelon BBQ, but you don't really taste the watermelon.
ME - Watermelon and BBQ? Just give me the mustard then.

So, I ate my first sausage chicken pesto baugette with spicy mustard today, and it tasted an awful lot like a polish sausage hot dog. I never tasted even a hint of chicken or pesto, so I guess it is like the watermelon BBQ sauce except you don't taste either.

Also, we saw a trailer for Biker Boyz. I'll go ahead and give my review of Biker Boyz now...fucking garbage.

Kim and I are going to see this tomorrow. It is getting awful reviews, but it looks good to me...plus, it is at the Arclight. I'll let you know how it turns out. In the mean time, check out the trailer for Equilibrium.

So, I saw this new banner ad for Terminator 3 today. For some reason, I am not terribly excited about this yet. Maybe it is the lackluster teaser, or the absence of Jim Cameron and Linda Hamilton, or Arnold's age. Something is keeping my interest down for T3. I'm sure once the PR machine really gets moving, I will be on board. I am also disappointed that they are not using Brad Fiedel or his themes from the previous movies for the music. Instead, they are using Marco Beltrami (Scream trilogy composer) and he is going to use his own themes. Is that a good idea to be messing with the music for a third movie? It would be like Episode III not featuring the Imperial March. Maybe not that bad...but I am bothered by it.

I also read some movie news that I feel has to be fanboy speculation. I read that they are doing preliminary casting for Spiderman 3 and that Vin Diesel and The Rock are battling for the role of Venom and Christian Bale and Sam Rockwell are up for Carnage. I think I touched on this in my Comic Movie Blowout, but Venom is a hard villain to do in one movie. If they are also trying to do Carnage, it could be bad. But like I said...it sounds like crap to me.

We are still tweaking things a bit on the new site, so you may see things shuffling around a bit. Kim is supposed to be implenting a search feature for all the google searchers who are hitting the site for one reason or another, and I plan on doing write-ups for the stuff I put to the right of the blog body...but not tonight.
