Thursday 5.30.02 - 7:01pm PST

Well, I am a published game reviewer once again, the front page even. It has nothing to do with the fact that my girlfriend runs this site. I'm trying to get this going as a regular thing since they are paying me, but they don't seem very interested in video games yet. None of you will remember the other place I am published, so here it is. It was a paid job, too. I got paid for a review of Max Payne as well, but they didn't use it. If only I could CGW to see the light, I'd be all set.

I updated Movies and Videogames with some stuff.

Tuesday 5.28.02 - 7:55pm PST

Alright, my E3 page is up. I also updated the Videogames page with a little news, and the Movies page with a little news.

Thursday 5.23.02 - 8:41pm PST

Sorry for the lack of updates, but I'm doing E3 this week. I spent all last night capturing video from the first day and I wanted to compare the captures from Adobe Premiere and Windows XP Movie Player. I'm hoping to edit together a little E3 highlight reel for the site. I'll be doing a post E3 rundown this weekend.

Monday 5.20.02 - 11:58pm PST

Success! I wrote 5 1/2 pages tonight. That is really good for me. Usually I get stuck at about 3. I'm fighting through the exposition, and I'm trying to tell the story without slowing the pace down. It isn't very easy, but I think I've worked through some big problem areas, and I have a better idea where it is going for the next 20 or so pages. I should be able to start making faster progress now.

Monday 5.20.02 - 9:10pm PST

I updated the Movies section with a cool pic I found today concerning the animated Matrix prequel.

I updated the Videogames section with my E3 preview list of the stuff I'll be watching.

I should archive, but I want to work on my script some tonight. The guilt for not working on it builds, and Kim subtly remind me last night why we came out here. I'm glad I brought her along. "Living" out here takes up so much time, sometimes I forget why we moved and what the objective is.

Sunday 5.19.02 - 10:29pm PST

Well, the X-Files is over, and it DID NOT end in alien apocalypse as I had hoped...well, not really. They did explain the entire story through the first hour in a court room section that felt as if the show itself was on trial and the fans were prosecuting. When the prosecuting attorney says, "Objection! What does this have to do with aliens?!" I can hear the fans themselves asking the same thing. Once Chris Carter explained his last 9 years of beating around the bush, the end was something any fan of the show could see a mile off. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but something along the lines of Independence Day or V would have been nice. There is room left for another movie, but I'm not sure it would be very good.

If anything, Animal Mother has saved some of the episodes from the last two years.

The forum has hit 300 posts. Is that a milestone?

Kim and I went to see Spider-Man again this weekend. It is still very good after a second viewing. I hear on the news that Episode II made *only* $80 million or something. No doubt it will be seen as a complete failure since it did not beat Spider-Man's opening. I wish that they would quit publicizing the box office take. Maybe then people would just go see movies and not worry about how much money they are making.

Thursday 5.16.02 - 10:44pm PST

I updated Movies with a link to my Attack of the Clones thoughts. I'll just put all the links here, too. BE WARNED: DO NOT READ UNTIL YOU SEE THE FILM.

I should archive per the rules of my new system...maybe tomorrow.

Tuesday 5.14.02 - 6:51pm PST

Typically, Kim gets the mail, but I got home before she did today so I went to get it. Now, granted, it has been a few days (since Friday tops) since we got the mail. However, in my mailbox I found not 1, not 2, but 11 Victoria's Secret catalogs. Normally, I would not complain about getting this type of mail, but this is a little excessive. I also found the new Entertainment Weekly. Does anyone else think it looks like Anakin is about to spank Padme with that lightsaber?

I think I have a good way to handle my archives. I'll be archiving every two weeks, so each page will contain no more than two weeks of content. I may not archive the News page as much, since it is mostly text. I like sprucing my content up with pictures, and if I let those pages get two long, they will take too long to load for some of the lesser fortunate out there. So I updated Movies and the Movies Archive.

I was bragging to Kim that my page had around 170 hits last week. Which I thought was kind of cool, until she told me that her page gets around 250,000 hits a week from 17,000 unique users. My measly 170 hits are probably from the same 10 people. Thankfully, it is not a competition. Also, I don't think my Google submission has gone through yet.

Monday 5.13.02 - 11:17pm PST

I put some screens from my latest Dungeon Siege encounter in Videogames. More tomorrow...

-Travis

Saturday 5.11.02 - 8:17pm PST

I updated Videogames with my thoughts on Spider-Man: The Movie for Xbox, along with some other stuff.

Thursday 5.09.02 - 10:58pm PST

Kim informs me that my Movies page will take over 90 seconds to load on a 56K connection. I guess that means I am catering to the broadband user, and I probably need to archive some of that stuff. If you are looking at this page on a 56K connect, you need to get broadband. If you are looking at this on a 56 connect AND you are my parents, you are forgiven.

I asked Kim to proof read my movies page and her response was, "It is all comics stuff. Who cares!?" Maybe she is right, but it's my site, so there it is.

Not a lot of action in the forums today...as if there ever is. I seem to be getting some hits now, though. If you'd like to give me some feedback on the site or tell me I'm stupid or strut your own ignorance, feel free to post in the forum. It makes you a member automatically when you post and it only takes a second. All visitors to the site are welcome, and all comments are welcome...even if it is something to the effect of, "YOUR SITE SUCKS!!" Since it is my board, you might find comments like that disappearing, but you can post them anyway.

Thursday 5.09.02 - 10:35pm PST

I put a big update in the Movies section, and I changed the picture of Kim on the FAQs page at her request. She wanted to represent, so she found a picture of herself in a Diablo II shirt. She is quite the Blizzard fanatic.

If you aren't watching Adult Swim on Cartoon Network on Sunday nights, you are missing some the funniest television ever. I'm pretty sure that all of the shows on Adult Swim are written and produced by guys my age who spend a lot of their time getting stoned. Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Sealab 2021 are really good, if you like nonsensical humor. I guess you have to be in the mood for it. Plus, Ponch is on Sealab 2021.

Wednesday 5.08.02 - 5:24pm PST

OK, after being chastised for not being able to do this on my own, Argyle0 has been kind enough to provide me with the clip from Spider-Man. So, here it is. It is short and blurry, but you'll get the idea.

Tuesday 5.07.02 - 9:49pm PST

Kim and I looked at a few more houses today. They were nice, but they all seemed to have a lot of people living in them, and none of them spoke Engish. It makes me think that maybe we're looking in the wrong area. The areas looked nice, though, and the houses weren't too bad either.

I'm currently reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the 4th Harry Potter book. Laugh all you want, these books are better than I expected. Also, they are a worldwide phenomenon, so they demand some kind of attention. Kim is reading The Chronicles of Narnia. I've never read them, and neither has she. I think I did see a play of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, but never read the original stories. We found a hardbound book that has them all collected. I'll probably read them after she does.

Before I started reading the Harry Potter books, I read Dreamcatcher by Stephen King. I thought it was really good, although it reminded me of some of his other stuff. They are making a movie out of it, and some of it will not transfer well to film, but I think it will still work. I read it not knowing what it was about at all, which made it very interesting.

I updated the Movies section. Time to watch The Shield.

-Travis

Sunday 5.05.02 - 10:24pm PST

Holy shit! I'm hearing that Spider-Man made $114 million IN THE FIRST WEEKEND!! That is a monster number to put up for the first three days. That beats Episode I, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter...everything. Episode II has its work cut out for it. I'll put up all the numbers for the weekend tomorrow night. I would say that Spider-Man 2 and 3 have secured the greenlight. As well as any property Marvel wants to make. This just goes to show everyone that comic book movies can kick ass.

-Travis

Saturday 5.04.02 - 7:33pm PST

Saw Spider-Man today and we were very pleased. I'll post a review later, but my overall impression is that it is very good. Much to my horror, I found out that Episode II may not even be showing at the Arclight. This is an enormous mistake, because the dome is a very nice theater. I suppose I'll have to see the digital print at the AMC 6 in Burbank first then.

I updated the site with a page of FAQs. Now, no one has actually ever asked me these questions, but I thought these might be the things going through peoples' heads while perusing my site.

I'll start putting stuff in the Archives when the pages start to get too long and load too slow. Until then, the Archives sections will remain blank.

Thursday 5.02.02 - 11:18pm PST

Another day, another place stolen out from under us. This is getting a little discouraging, but we'll keep looking. Eventually, someone will buckle and have to sell us something...or someone may have to take a little ride in a van with no windows. One way or another, we'll own property in California. I keep looking around for that sack of money that will solve my problems, but no luck finding it yet. Maybe it is sitting, waiting in the house or condo we have not yet bought. I'm sure that is what it is.

Even though Spider-Man is tomorrow, Kim and I are holding off until Saturday afternoon so we can see it at the Arclight. I updated Movies and Videogames with new stuff. Also, those of you who frequent the forums may have noticed that there is a Star Wars themed (surprise, surprise) ranking system going on. My rank will always stay the same because I paid the money. The rest of you will have to post to see your rank go up. Kim was the first one to hit 'Clone'. Actually, it is a rather childish attempt to drum up action in my forum. So go out there and talk about stuff!

Kim found the new Korn single "Here to Stay" (right click and 'Save Target As' to save locally) *NOT A VALID LINK ANYMORE* out there...and it is really good. I think the new album comes out in June. It reminds me of their first album stuff like "Blind" and "Clown". I'm glad, I have all the albums, but I think the later stuff was edging closer towards...wel...shitty. Ben,...better go get a helmet.
