This makes me laugh. I got this link from my referral page. If that was your search, what link would you hit first given the information on that page?

We've had some rain lately. When it rains at our house, it turns into Night of the Living Dead as Kim and I scramble around the house sealing doors and windows. Every little trickle of water is a zombie's hand reaching to tear out our throats. The reason we fear the water is because water inside is a destructive force. It seeps into carpet, warps wood, ruins posters, and once you've driven it back outside, the after effects of wet carpet and mold create a smell that wanders through the house seemingly without source. If you attack the source it will help, but you still have to stamp out the smell completely. This is our life when it rains, a battle for survival...or at least, some amount of comfort.

We had an HOA meeting tonight, and those are always fun. A family living in our complex is a Section 8 family, meaning the government is paying their rent. These are not slums we live in. The government is paying their rent, which is $1400 a month. Add to that the fact that they are attempting to sue the HOA for "personal injury" or some bullshit, and you've got a pretty nice poster of America for immigrants. What a country this is! You can enter illegally, we'll pay your rent, and then you can sue your neighbors for no reason! We've spoken to their landlord, the owner, and he said they have no case and he would take care of it. This guy saying, "I'll take care of it," sounds a lot like the kiss of death because I'm pretty sure he is an Armenian mobster. He's a very nice man, but the way he came into owning the place was the previous owner owed him a lot of money and couldn't pay. So he "took" the property as payment. There are other indicators that I won't go into right now, but if he isn't a gangster, he'd play a good one on TV.

I seem to be getting a lot of hits lately of people looking for "samus aran without suit" or "samus without armor" or things like that. I believe in giving the people what they want, so all you searchers behold!

SAMUS ARAN WITHOUT ARMOR

That's right, straight from the end of 8 bit Metroid, the sexy Samus without her armor. Yes, I'm aware this probably isn't what you are looking for. Feel free to browse the rest of my site, guys. Thanks to my buddy Shane from EGM for the pic.

I'm changing the file structure a bit so you may notice a lot of broken pictures in the archives. Worry not, they'll be fixed soon. We are still working on a good 'Search' solution for the site. We were going to implement Movable Type, but our webserver does not support perl scripting. Also, I plan on uploading some of my old game reviews that aren't online for you to peruse at your leisure. This stuff might happen later tonight.

As much as I hate people suing over stupid stuff, this lawsuit is great. Selling ads before movies suggests that the theater has no other way to make money, like television. If you pay for a movie channel like HBO, you don't get commercials. So what theaters are now doing is selling you a ticket to a movie, and then selling ad space before the movie. It is an evil practice. Praise the Arclight where you don't see any commercials...ever.

A couple quick things...

1. I don't give two shits about Michael Jackson. Neither should you. He's a freak.

2. Alfred Molina has been cast as Doctor Octopus in The Amazing Spider-Man(Spider-Man 2). You might remember him from Magnolia, Species, Boogie Nights and most definitely from Raiders of the Lost Ark. He's the guy who says, "Throw me the idol, I throw you the whip!" He's a great actor.

The weekend has been nice, and what is nicer is I have one more day left. Yesterday Kim and I went to see Shanghai Knights and Daredevil. Kim is a big Jackie Chan fan and I'll go see just about anything with Donnie Yen in it. Shanghai Knights was good, but pretty much just like Rush Hour 2. Daredevil was a good comic book movie, but I think it may be too "comic book-y" for mainstream audiences. Also, I didn't read Daredevil comics as a kid, so I don't know if they got the character right or not. I'll talk more about it in my review, if I write one. One of the best things about seeing Daredevil was the new X-Men 2 trailer. It kicks ass. Two words: Colossus cameo. In short, Daredevil is worth seeing, as long as you don't mind comic book physics. After the movie, Kim and I went to dinner, then came home for some Age of Mythology. My friends are probably huffing and puffing now, but Kim doesn't like playing with you guys because you are way better than us. So we just took on a computer opponent. It was great fun. AoM is a great game.

3D Mark 2003 is out. You can get it here. They made it so that you cannot change the options for testing. So everyone runs the same test. Here is my score:

My first score was a 3296, but I set all my video card options for best performance to get the new score.

It doesn't rain much in California, but when it does rain, it is bad. For instance, it appears that the entire city of Los Angeles is built so that all the rain that falls on it drains into my garage. Our garage is a public garage for all 10 units and it is below street level. As I type this, it is continuing to fill with water; about 2 inches now. In addition, I've taken about 10 gallons of water off the floor of my guest bedroom with my shop vac because water is coming in through the patio door jam in there. Luckily for Kim and I, we have not yet carpeted that room. I think I've built enough towel dams to stave off the flood for now, but for how long? It is supposed to keep raining through sometime tomorrow.

I've created an Oscar pool group at the official site. Here are your directions:

1. Go here and register. STOP WHINING! It takes 2 minutes!
2. You'll get the "Congratulations!" thing. Click on the 'click here' link.
3. Change your user name if you so desire.
4. Click the 'Create or Join a Group' link.
5. Search for 'GIAS Oscar Pool'.
6. When the search is finished, click on the 'GIAS Oscar Pool' link under 'Name'.
7. Enter 'lucasrocks' in the password field and click 'Join this Group'.
8. Once you are in the group, click the 'Predict the Winners' link to go back to the home page.
9. Click 'Edit your Predictions'.
10. Fill out the form and submit. That should be all you need to do.

The winner gets accolades on the site and a year long custom title in the forums reading "Winner - 2003 Oscar Pool" or something like that. Feel free to invite friends.

Oscar nominations were announced today. Check here for the comprehensive list. The Two Towers only got 6 noms by my count, Gangs of New York got 9. TTT got a Best Picture nod, but not one for Best Director, Best Score, Best Cinematography, or any acting categories. That's too bad. Perhaps Return of the King will get some notice. If you're an internet regular, prepare for a fanboy war; in the category of Best Visual Effects, Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. Better wear a helmet and a poncho, it will get messy. I'll see if I can find an online Oscar pool we can use.
