I'm in KY now doing some late night browsing and I saw that Yahoo! has the first trailer for Hellboy up. I'll need to watch it again with the sound all the way up, and I think a Quicktime version is due out sometime around Monday. If the movie can capture the attitude of the comic, it could be a lot of fun.

I'd also like to thank Mr. Pajaro for getting us our Return of the King tickets for opening night at the Arclight while we were flying today. It looks like he posted about it, so just read his post.

Tuesday is DVD day and today there is a big release. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Extended Edition (or LotR:TTTee if you're up on your internet slang) comes out today. I am one of the people that everyone laughs at because I bought the theatrical versions of both The Two Towers and Fellowship of the Ring as well as buying the extended versions. I like the idea of having the theatrical versions to screen for people who have not seen them before and maybe are not up for a 4 hour version. Also out today is Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Volume 1. ATHF is one of the Adult Swim shows on Cartoon Network. Each episode is only about 15 minutes and they show them without commerical interruption. However, ATHF is not for everyone. A lot of people will watch it and think it is just stupid, but I think it's hysterical. I only hope a Sealab 2021 DVD is soon to follow. Cartoon Network has also been showing the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated shorts this week and last. I think they are great, and you can watch them on the web if you go into the official site. I guess that is enough plugging for Cartoon Network for the time being.

It has been pretty quiet around here of late. We're done with The Matrix and its sequels. I finished Max Payne 2 and haven't played any games at all in about a week. I've had the strong desire to write, so I have been doing just that. I've been working on the new script, and I'm going to make some final edits to the first script. Also, Pajaro and I have a possible short film project in the works. Well, I got nothing. Maybe I'll have something better later in the week.

Well, we just watched select scenes from The Matrix, a short from The Animatrix, followed by The Matrix Reloaded in preparation for my second viewing of The Matrix Revolutions. We were watching very carefully and stopping it for discussion, and I see no way that anyone can justify to me that I am missing a big part of the story. Sorry, guys, but you're "You just don't get it," defense is not going to work once you see Revolutions. Since it comes out this week, I'm giving my general opinion. The movie does not deliver any of the answers posed by the second movie, and the conclusion of the story is crap. It flat out does not work. There are some amazing effects and action scenes, but ultimately they are just there to distract you from the fact that these guys could not come up with a good ending for this story. I just read Harry Knowles review (much maligned proprietor of Aint It Cool News) and I'd like to show you to what desperate lengths The Matrix hardcore are going to go to defend it. Here are some snippets, don't worry they won't give anything away:

"You see, The Machines… They’re the United States and Capitalism."
"Neo is for his people… basically, he’s Bin Laden living in a cave somewhere…"
"Essentially, Agent Smith is Communism."

You keep grasping at those straws, Fat Man. That movie sucks, and I can think of no less than 5 better ways to end this trilogy.

I've been playing Max Payne 2 on PC lately. It's an exceptional single-player experience. If you like action shooting games or dark, gritty cop dramas you should definitely pick it up. It has some of the best texturing and level design I've seen in a game. Kim and I have been mulling over our experience watching The Matrix Revolutions, and we're going to go back and watch the first two again. I'm seeing Revolutions again next Wednesday when it comes out. I'm hoping that we missed something...something big.
