We went to see The Matrix Revolutions last night at a press screening in Westwood. I have very strong opinions about the movie, but I'm not going to post them until it is out. Mostly because I don't want to ruin anyone's expectations of the movie, but also because I want to see Reloaded again and then watch Revolutions again. I may even have to watch the first one again. I will tell you this, you really need to see Reloaded shortly before you see Revolutions and have all the specifics fresh in mind. If you want to know about the movie, I'll talk, but you'll have to email me. Put something about "Revolutions" in the subject so it doesn't get sorted into junk.

The first poster for Spider-Man 2 is out. Notice the reflection of Doc Ock in his eye. Also, the teaser for Alien vs Predator is out (here). This hasn't even begun shooting yet, so the teaser does not show much. However, the Behind the Scenes featurette has Paul Anderson (now Paul W.S. Anderson not to be confused with Paul Thomas Anderson who directed Magnolia and Punch Drunk Love) talking quite a bit about the story. I'm not sure about this. While I like the idea of an Alien vs Predator movie, I'm not sure just how good it can be. I'll keep an open mind about it, though. I'm am leaning towards looking forward to it...Kim just sent me an IM saying, "Want to see The Matrix Revolutions tonight?" so I'm going to end this post.

I'm sick, so this will be fairly short. Like I said, my grandfather died last Tuesday. I've gotten several emails and phone calls from readers of this site, and I appreciate all of them. I've built a page with his obituary here, which he wrote most of himself about two years ago. The Air Force performed a wonderful ceremony at the gravesite and the morning of the funeral we came outside to see several deliberate crosses in the sky made from the vapor trails of jets. The pilots must have been doing them all morning. The USAF really went out of their way to show their appreciation. This was not a sudden thing, my grandfather's health has declined dramatically in the last few weeks. He died in his own house with his wife, daughter, and grand daughter by his side. He will be sorely missed.

Now on to something different, despite my illness Kim and I made it out to the Arclight to see The Texas Chainsaw Massacre last night. Here is my spoiler free review.

My grandfather died on Tuesday, so I'm in Oklahoma for the funeral. There will be more on this later.

We watched Returner tonight. It's a Japanese studio movie about time travel and alien invasion. It basically combines elements from Terminator, E.T., and Independence Day. So while it is not terribly original, it is a pretty cool movie. I think it has too many epilogues, but other than that, I thought the last one was pretty cool. I got my copy on ebay, but I believe it is coming out in theaters this weekend in places. Here is the site for it, and if you enter the site you can find a trailer. I'd link it directly, but it is all flash.

We went to see Kill Bill last night and learned some valuable lessons. First, we will never again see a movie in Burbank on a Friday night. It took us over 20 minutes to find a place to park and had to drive to the top and bottom of two parking structures. Second, Moviefone.com is not a reliable ticket service. I bought tickets for Kill Bill Thursday afternoon and received a confirmation number. After our parking nightmare, I was quite perturbed to find out that they did not have tickets for us and that the show was sold out. I tried to explain what "confirmation" meant, but it was no use. So we headed over to the Sherman Oaks theater where, just like when we saw The Matrix Reloaded, there was no one there. Anyway, here is my spoiler free Kill Bill review.

In other news, we now have central heat and air once again. Here is a picture of our newly installed unit.

While I was on the roof, I noticed something curious up there. Surely my neighbor isn't really using this as a satellite dish.

Kill Bill comes out this weekend. We're going to see it Friday night so maybe I'll write up a review for it and post it Saturday...probably not, though. I haven't been in the mood to do a full review in a while. All the reviews I have read for it say it is fantastic, but they also say that it is the most violent R-rated movie ever. So that may not be good for some of you.

I've had Half-Life 2 as my "Wanting" icon for a while now, because I think it will be a great game. Thanks to some L33t=H4}{0Rz (hackers), it will probably be delayed until the middle of next year, instead of coming out next month on schedule. I'd just like to say to those guys, "Thanks a lot, Assholes!!"

We got a new kitchen today. It came on 4 pallets and weighs about 900 lbs total. Kim and I had to move all of it up 2 flights of stairs by ourselves because the delivery guy would only take it to the door. He would have left it on the street if he could have, but we convinced him to at least take it to our garage door. Hopefully we can find someone to install it soon. We *might* even get AC on Thursday, barring more unforeseen complications. I know this is a lame entry after a long drought of silence, but I'm too tired to be creative today. Maybe tomorrow.

We don't discuss politics on this site because I don't find them interesting and they tend to divide people. However, since I live in California I feel obligated to note that the recall passed and Schwarzenegger is governor.
