After much email harrassment, I've put together my E3 2004 Highlight video. It is basically the stuff that impressed me, although Half-Life 2 was there last year. Download it here. The music may be a bit heavier than most of you care for, but I like to use newer songs for these. Also I think video game imagery goes well with loud E chords.

Kim and I and our friend Heather went to see a press screening of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban on Sunday. It's good, but they had to sacrifice some content from the book that I really liked. It is a strong Harry Potter movie, though. Michael Gambon's Dumbledore is a lot different from Richard Harris's, not bad just different. It is a darker movie than the other two, both in tone and visually. To ramp up for it, the three of us watched the first two Harry Potter movies on Saturday and had prime rib.

Oh, and the theatrical version of The Return of the King comes out on DVD tomorrow.

One year from today, we'll be watching Star Wars Episode III. So far, the "Spoiler Free for Episode III" campaign has been a success, but the hardest time is yet to come. If I was in charge of marketing for the movie, this is what the teaser poster would look like:

Kim and I went to a press screening of Troy tonight. We both really enjoyed it. I plan on writing a review for it, so maybe tomorrow. The short version is, "It's great!"

On the road from Lexington to Glasgow, you drive through Versailles (pronounced Versales). There is a huge castle on the road that is landmark in the area and is really quite impressive. It's a genuine castle made of stone with all the trimmings. Well...at this moment...it is burning to the ground (with video). Thanks to the Mad Bushman for the link.

All you single people out there who are going to clubs and bars in the hopes of meeting someone are wasting your time. Buy yourself a dog and head to your nearest dog park. Kim and I sometimes go to dog parks on the weekends to turn the dogs loose and wear them down a bit. We always see attractive young people at these places, and the conversation just starts itself when your dog attacks theirs. It's an instant icebreaker.

We went to see Van Helsing this weekend, and the next morning completely forgot about it. It just isn't that good. It has lots of action and monsters and special effects, but the script is bad and the story has some holes that they do not explain. It's a rental at best, and even then I'd check the shelf thoroughly. We also watched School of Rock and Gothika. I've been told by everyone that has seen it to see School of Rock, and we bought it on DVD when it came out but just didn't watch it. I just can't get excited about comedies. It's pretty good, and it's something I'd recommend for family viewing. I've been a Jack Black fan since I first saw a Tenacious D short on HBO back in '97 or '98, so I really should have seen this movie earlier. Gothika is just a blah horror movie, nothing great. We've also got The Rundown waiting on the Tivo and The Last Samurai on our DVD shelf. Hopefully we'll get to those soon.

Next week is E3, and I think I'm only going Thursday and Friday. I may go Wednesday, we'll just have to see how work is going.
