I still haven't seen Star Wars for a second time, but I'm thinking of catching it this weekend. With Kim out of town, the weekend is pretty open. When Kim goes out of town, I take the opportunity to make things for dinner that she doesn't like. Tuesday was chili. Last night was catfish. Tonight...? Chili leftovers, of course! I'm not one of those spaghetti-noodles-in-the-chili commies like some of you. Noodles in chili always reminds me of the chili we'd get in school, and I was always convinced it was just leftover spaghetti with water added. I didn't have any chili beans, which was a mild disappointment, but that didn't stop me. The chili turned out a little thinner than normal, but still damn good. The problem with these kind of meals is that, in the course of their preparation, the house takes on the odor of the ingredients. It doesn't bother me at all, but Kim doesn't care for the house to smell like fresh cut onions and fish. Hence, my reluctance to prepare these dishes with her around.

I'm also less inclined to play World of Warcraft while she's away. It just isn't as fun without someone sitting next to you working together, especially since we are primarily doing raids and pvp now, which require a measure of communication that typing and text chat cannot support. The time away from WoW will allow me to unlock everything in LEGO Star Wars and finish the Episode III game.

I finally added a link for the LEGO Star Wars review I wrote.

Oh yeah, the new Audioslave is very good.

I have seen how it ends. My first impressions of the film are that it is very very good. I found it hard to watch at times because of how sad it is, but in a good way. It is very emotional. I'm very pleased with it. What about Kim, you ask? She loved it. Some parts terrified her and others had her in tears. Now it's time for bed. Oh, one more thing. Don't take your younger kids to see this...unless you want them to be in therapy for a long long time.

Well, it's only 24 hours or so away now; the end of a story 28 years in the making. In celebration, we've changed some of the graphics for the site with the art of our friend C. Elm. I'm going to write a review of Star Wars, but it may take a day or so to get it posted. I'll post my initial reactions here when I get home from the movie. It is getting a lot of positive buzz, so I think it'll be very very good. We're going to the Arclight (of course), and the Arclight is going to have a stormtropper brigade lead by Darth Vader march down Hollywood Blvd at around 5:00. When it gets dark there is going to be a lightsaber demonstration by some martial artists/sword masters using the Master Replicas lightsabers, which should look very cool at night. As if the release of Star Wars wasn't enough to get me to take time off work, E3 is also this week, so I'll be attending that probably Thursday and Friday.

I've been listening to both the new Nine Inch Nails and the new System of a Down, and I like them both a lot. That may be because I haven't bought any new music in a while and I'm craving it, or both albums may just be really good. I look forward to the new Audioslave next week as well.

The summer movie season is upon us, so perhaps I'll have more stuff to post about. The well has been dry of late, and not for any one reason. We've been basically just sitting and staring...waiting for Star Wars. Now that it is coming out shortly, we can start to get on with our lives. Enough excuses! I will find something to blog about and more often from now on. Such is my vow!

Kim's little sister Mollie was recently admitted into SCAPA (School of Creative and Performing Arts) at Lafayette High School. Mollie used to be a beaming, joy-filled child and has now grown up into a dour, angst-ridden teenager (as can be witnessed by these before and after pictures). Getting into SCAPA is a big deal and could be a good jumping off point for Mollie's career as a writer. Congratulations, Mollie! Your own copy of The Cure: Boxed Set is in the mail...(not really).

There hasn't been much going on recently, but this month kicks off the summer movie season so it's going to get busy. Things to watch for this month: new Nine Inch Nails album (yesterday), new System of a Down album, new Audioslave album, E3, Memorial Day, Kingdom of Heaven this Friday...and that's pretty much it for May.

I keep forgetting to link this site. Mike, Yoshi, and I built it a few years ago and I keep it updated so I can print it and use it as a calendar. Anyway, you should check out Geek Calendar for release dates of movies, games, books, CDs, or dates for events.
